All Africa Golf Team Championships official opening

The highly anticipated All Africa Golf Team Championships will officially be opened today, bringing together the continent’s top golfing nations in a battle for supremacy.

The ceremony, which will be held at the picturesque Bulawayo Golf Club, will be attended by dignitaries, officials, and golf enthusiasts. Ahead of the official opening, Zimbabwe Golf Association President and Vice President of the African Golf Confederation, Martin Chikwanha emphasised the event’s significance in promoting golf development across Africa.

“We are proud to host this prestigious tournament, showcasing the best of African golf,” Chikwanha said.

“This event is a testament to the growth and potential of golf on our continent.”

Also speaking ahead of the official opening, Zimbabwe Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Services, Hon Tongai Mnangagwa, welcomed participants and officials to Zimbabwe highlighting the championships’ economic and social benefits.

“The All Africa Golf Team Championships will not only showcase our beautiful country but also contribute to the growth of tourism and sports development,” Hon Mnangagwa said.

A strong field of 15 teams from across Africa, including defending champions Morocco, will compete in the tournament. Golfers will vie for individual and team honors, promising thrilling action on the course.

Chikwanha expressed gratitude to sponsors and partners, ensuring a successful event.

“We are grateful for the support of our sponsors and partners, enabling us to deliver a world-class tournament,” Chikwanha said.

The championships will run from today to 2 November, with the closing ceremony scheduled for 1 November. Participating countries include Egypt, South Africa, Morocco, and Nigeria, among others.

The All Africa Golf Team Championships promise to deliver exciting golf, camaraderie, and sportsmanship among Africa’s top golfing nations.
