POWER Sessions is set to host a comedy and poetry show on Wednesday at the Harvest House International Church in Bulawayo to promote breast cancer awareness.
The theme of the event is ‘Empowering Resilience’, and it emphasizes the need to support the fighters, admire the survivors and celebrate hope.
The founder of Power Sessions, Chengetai Sithole, popularly known as Chester said that the event will use poetry to bring awareness on breast cancer.
“The concept of the event represents the powerful emotional release that comes from expressing oneself through poetry, music and comedy. At the event, there are a number of concepts and taglines that would be used and these entail; seize the moment, fight the fight and the lyrical seizure. Our colour scheme is pink and purple which symbolise hope, creativity and strength,” he said.
Sithole indicated that they will afford the victims of breast cancer an opportunity to share their experiences.
“During the event, we will have stories from breast cancer survivors, fighters and caregivers. We will have poetry readings and musical performances that are bent on promoting hope and resilience,” he said.
He highlighted that there are a number of poets, comedians and health experts who are set to address the audience.
“This week, we have poets that entail Farirai the Golgotha Poet, Black Phar-I, PriCynth, Lady Tshawe and Mjabulisi. We also have some comedians like Mbongeni Ignatious, Dalu Da Comedian and Tinashe Russell Mahleka. These different artists will perform alongside a health expert, Joanna from Life Priority Health, who will educate the audience on breast cancer,” he said.
Sithole added that their goal was to create a unique and impactful event that is set to inspire, educate and entertain the audience.
