ZPC Kariba continue with good form

SEASONED Zifa Southern Region Division One club ZPC Kariba continued with their fine form after beating Bosso90 in a match played at White City B Arena on Saturday.

ZPC Hwange got their goals through Courage Sibanda and Justin Kaunda to take their unbeaten run to seven games.

They have since amassed 21 points, five ahead of Plumtree based Mainline who edged Victoria Falls City 1-0 courtesy of a Proud Khuphe strike.

“It is always pleasing to have your players playing to the best of their abilities. We are having a good run but we should remain focused as a club. We will take each game as it comes and we are very much hopeful for improved performances,” said Mebelo Njekwa, a veteran former Castle Lager Premier Soccer League coach.

Njekwa is an ex Hwange and ZPC Kariba Premiership coach. As a player he turned out for Wankie later to change to Hwange in the 1990s as he was towards retiring. He formed a good partnership with former Hwange schoolmate Venancio Ncube and with Labani Ngoma in 1983 and 1984, their Wankie Secondary School team was a force to reckon with.

He seems to be the right man for the job, as he carries a wealth of experience in the game.

Njekwa was an assistant coach at Premiership side Hwange under Zambian Tenant Chilumba and Nation Dube.

Sizinda based Zebra Revolution suffered a 1-3 away defeat at the hands of Filabusi’s Jordan Sinnot.Sinnot got their goals through Sizalobuhle Dube, Brandon Ncube and Tavonga Budu.Revolution got their consolation goal courtesy of Tintenda Chitova.

It was a weekend that saw former Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Zimbabwe Saints play a one all draw against Indlovu Iyanyathela.

DRC United were walked over by Casymn to signal the beginning of a cancer that has rocked the league in recent years where by some teams do not fulfil away matches.

The Ajax Hotspurs and Adachi match did not take place.

“These are some of the unfortunate incidents that we should avoid. It actually spoils the mood that we seriously need to avoid. However, we have had some brilliant games and good commitment from a number of clubs affiliated to us,” said Zifa Southern Region League spokesperson Blessing Mbwanda in an in interview from South Africa where he went to cheer up the country’s senior national team in their Fifa World Cup Qualifiers against Lesotho and South Africa.

The league’s last season second runners-up Talen Vision beat Bulawayo City 1-0. Owen Milanzi got the all-important goal for the Trukumb Mining sponsored outfit.

Mosi Rovers, who hail from the resort town of Victoria Falls drew 1-1 with Nkayi United.
