Women arrested for possessing dangerous drugs

POLICE in Bulawayo have arrested two women from Old Pumula suburb for unlawful possession of dangerous drugs.

Nokuthaba Sibanda (31) and Lindiwe Mhlanga (25) were arrested on 4 November for allegedly possessing methcathinone.

Methcathinone is a kind of a stimulant drug,sometimes used as a recreational drug and is considered to be addictive.

The duo was arrested, following a tip-off to detectives from the CID Drugs and Narcotics in Bulawayo.

Acting on that tip-off the detectives proceeded to Pumula shops, where they located Sibanda.

It is reported that during a body search, a small transparent sachet containing methcathinone was found hidden in her hip pocket.

Another sachet of methcathinone was discovered within her body.

It is further reported that the detectives then went to Mhlanga’s residence, where they found her and conducted a body search.

They discovered a large transparent sachet containing six smaller sachets of methcathinone hidden in her bra.

The total weight of the recovered methcathinone was three grammes, with a street value of US$30.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident and urged members of the public to continue fighting against drug abuse and the illegal cultivation and sale of dangerous drugs by reporting any individuals involved in such activities to the police.

He also expressed their gratitude to the public for their support in providing tip-offs that assist in their duties and help bring criminals to justice.
