Mark McNulty was the last Zimbabwean to win the Zimbabwe Open 24 years ago.

This Sunday, Scott Vincent almost tore down that unwanted record for Zimbabwean golf finishing six shots behind 2024 FBC Zimbabwe Open, South African Micheal Hollick who finished 20-under to take home the title.

Vincent became the highest placed Zimbabwean at the country’s major in more than 15 years with a flawless round in which he did not drop a shot and hit four birdies on his way to a six under 68.

Second place went to another South African Darren Fichadt who finished with a total of 18 under in the tournament. Fichardt won the zimbabwe Open 23 years ago and his final round 68 was two strokes shy of forcing a play off after dropping shots on the 2nd and 11th.

Vincent’s younger brother, Kieran was tied for 4th place with Swede Fredrick From while another young local, Benjamin Follet-Smith was tied for 6th place.

Kieran was undone by bogies on the 8th, 10th and 13th which saw him finish one under 71.

Follet-Smith ended his 2024 FBC Zimbabwe Open run with a final round one under 71 after hitting four birdies and bogeys on the 3rd 5th and 10th.

Hollick praised the field and the course during a tournament in which he only six shots in his four rounds.

“I had a decent run in the first two rounds and that set the foundation for my third and fourth rounds. This was an incredible tournamwnt with a very tough field of pros and a very good course,” Hollick told B Metro after the award ceremony.
