VICTORIA Falls-based music crew Top kings is offering free recording sessions to female artistes in a bid to empower women who cannot afford the recording fees and studio time.
Top Kings are identical twins, Nkosenhle and Nkosilathi Ncube who are musicians, songwriters and actors, born in 2000.
Nkosilathi Ncube said they are working on a project of empowering female artistes through offering them free recording sessions.
“Our desire is to give women an opportunity to get recognition in the arts and entertainment industry just like their counterparts and this is driven by the fact that they have been marginalised for a long time.
“As a brand, we are inviting female artistes of different age groups to come in and record their songs for free with us,” said Nkosilathi.
Nkosenhle said their goal is to change the stereotypes on women and create an opportunity of growth for various female artistes.
“Our goal is to change the narrative on women artistes and to ensure their hard work is recognised in the industry. This is also a move of empowerment amongst young artistes.
“We are currently working with two female artistes and our desire is to get as many women as possible. We are also looking forward to reaching out to schools in Victoria Falls,” said Nkosenhle.
He stated that through these recording sessions they are conducting a talent search and they will be able to select back up artistes from.
“This will also be a talent search where we will be selecting some female artists to work with and this will give them exposure and an opportunity to grow,” said Nkosenhle.
