Zimbabwe’s finest Gospel outfit The Vine has announced their return in the music space, after they dropped visuals for Sewakhile, a song that was recorded on their tenth anniversary celebrations in July at the Rainbow Towers in Harare.
As they celebrated their milestone, The Vine’s event was graced by American singers Jekalyn Carr and Vashawn Mitchell, as well as Annatoria from the United Kingdom, amongst other notable great artistes.
Sewakhile which loosely translates to “He has built” is a heartfelt song which draws its essence from the beautiful message of John 5:15, where Jesus proclaims, “I no longer call you servants because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.”
The song beautifully encapsulates the theme of divine friendship and the transformative power of faith and comradery with Christ.
Sewakhile serves as a reminder that we are not merely servants but cherished friends of God, invited into a relationship that is both profound and personal. This is metaphorically evident by Christ “building,” for himself, a place in our hearts.
The collaboration between Everton Mlalazi (lead singer on the song ) and The Vine is a significant milestone in the contemporary gospel music arena.
This partnership blends Everton’s soulful vocals with The Vine’s rich harmonies and musical expertise, creating a captivating sound that resonates deeply with listeners.
Everton Mlalazi who is also the director of the group said the collaboration not only showcases their talents but also highlights their shared commitment to uplifting and inspiring through music.
“With this song and the entire project of The Vine’s tenth anniversary celebration, we hope to convey the message that we are valued and loved by God. This song is a celebration of our identity in Him and the incredible journey we embark on as His friends.
“It’s a call to embrace our purpose and the life He has built for us, with us and in us,” said Mlalazi.
Produced by Nigel Nyangombe, the track which currently sits on 376 thousand views on YouTube, promises to touch hearts and uplift spirits, inviting listeners into a space of worship and gratitude.
