This season’s Premier League has been a thrilling watch. From early title chases to potential relegation dog-fights — the Premier Soccer League has been a very compelling spectacle and it doesn’t look to end any time soon.

The title race may soon be dominating the headlines, but one particular team is defying the odds and look like they may be headed towards having successful seasons. To say Simba Bhora have had an extraordinary season so far would be an understatement. They play one of the most attractive styles of football in the division and have rightly received a lot of praise.

Many anticipated that the Shamva-based outfit would fall off after a debut season of mixed fortunes. However, under Tonderai Ndiraya, “Go Buju Go” have gone from strength to strength and now look set to secure some kind of African football.

Mzilikazi sensation Junior Makunike has been a revelation under Ndiraya and is sure to begin attracting the interest of the African football’s elite. Also, Walter Musona has been another shrewd addition and has two goals to his name this season. Not to mention the superb form of the likes of Tymon Machope and Blessing Moyo who have been key in Simba Bhora sitting in the upper echelons of the table.

Buju Bhora are heading to Luveve Stadium to face Bulawayo Chiefs in match day seven tomorrow. Despite the Shamva club going into the tie as favourites, Chiefs will still fancy their chances of picking up three points.

Go Buju Go currently sit in second place behind early leaders, Highlanders having played six games. Another thing going in their favour is the stability that club owner, Simba “Buju” Ndoro, meaning they only have the Premier League to focus on.

It would be a magnificent achievement if they were to finish in the top four and they are certainly capable of doing so. Go Buju Go have splashed the cash on big-name signings but still have a chance of competing for the title this season. The club has been astute in their transfer business and more signings are successful than not.

Last season was Simba Bhora’s first in the topflight and before the arrival of Ndiraya, they struggled to adapt to their new climate. Heading into this season, they made several smart signings including the acquisitions of Makunike and Musona. Simba Bhora have been in fine form and have only lost one match in the league this season. They have picked up some memorable results including a home win against Dynamos and an away win at Manica Diamonds.

Simba Bhora have only lost once on the road this season — showing that their away form is one of the reasons why they are in the position that they are in. They have been helped by having an in-form Makunike and Musona at their disposal who has netted twice this season.

Simba Bhora sit in second place and at the bare minimum, they should secure a top-eight finish. They are one point off of Highlanders who are in first position. Ndiraya’s side have a real chance of finishing in a top four place but tomorrow afternoon, they face Never Rauzhi and his unpredictable Chiefs. Both player and club are enjoying a purple patch and are just five points and four places below their gold-mining opponents.
