While he was sleeping, the gang struck.

They forced open the shop door using an iron rod and gained access to the shop.

“They found him sleeping and woke him up before force-marching him to the toilet where they locked him up. They took an assortment of groceries that included: 20x10kg mealie-meal, 20x2kg sugar, 6x2kg rice, 6x500g peanut butter, 6x500mls stir-milk,18x 2litre orange crush drink, 3x2kg flour, 2 packs of king curls snacks, 8×2 litres cooking oil, 5 pairs of school shoes, 5 speaker boxes, one box of pens, one box of pencils, 8×32 pages exercise books, 4×2 kg surf and two cases of tinned fish,” said the source.

The source added: “They loaded the items in a getaway car before they drove off.”
