Finally here!

After postponing the event leading to disappointment of fans, seasoned comedian Ntando Van Moyo (pictured) is set to redefine himself as an impactful jester once more as he is set to stage a one man show on 28 September.

The gig dubbed “Does It Really Matter,” was supposed to take place on 12 August but there was no suitable venue to host such a show expected to be the comedy night of the year. However, it has been confirmed that it will be held at the National Gallery in Bulawayo as part of the shows at this year’s Intwasa Arts Festival koBulawayo slated to run from 23 to 28 September.

Van Moyo gave respect to his loyal fans who were patient enough to wait for the new dates of the show to be finalised, as he said while looking for a fresh venue, he took the opportunity to also perfect his set.

“The reason for postponement was that we were trying to get an ideal venue for the show and we settled for the Gallery because it has been tried and tested in hosting a show of this calibre before and we are sure that it is the best venue for us. We partnered with Intwasa because we felt that the show will add more value to the festival and besides Intwasa is one of the biggest festivities in the country, hence, we joined them for they are a brand to reckon with,” said Moyo.

For the past years, Moyo said he was diverting all his energy to promoting up-and-coming comedians through the club’s academy. As he makes a return to focus on himself as a brand, he said a lot will be expected at his solo upcoming event as he will portray a splendid performance that will touch on different thematic concerns from politics, sports, and economics.

“It’s been seven years without doing a solo show and I felt people have been starved of my niche of comedy for too long, hence that is when the idea of this gig was brewed. I will strictly perform alone on the entire set, with Sipho Mercent Nyathi being a master of ceremony. A lot of things have been happening around the world that prompted the name of the show because when you realise on some issues its history repeating itself from mjolo to politics, sports, and economics, so it’s a matter of asking — from all the things that are happening, do they really matter?,” said Van Moyo.

The founder of Umahlekisa comedy club said the show will be different in that he will push boundaries and also push himself to the limit in order to give fans what they want.

“Gone are the times when we just staged shows for the sake of doing them. This time around there will be a massive improvement in terms of international appeal, crowd pull, and general staging. We also fused in culinary arts because it’s now a common thing on various shows. We want people to laugh, have drinks while enjoying their preferred meals on the menu from our chefs,” said Moyo.
