With his English Premiership side Aston Villa involved in bruising league matches week in week out, Warriors holding midfielder Marvelous Nakamba was on Sunday spotted at Barbourfields Stadium watching the Highlanders and Bulawayo Chiefs Chibuku Super Cup quarter-final tie.

In one of the pictures that has been doing rounds on social media, Nakamba is seen in the company of ex Highlanders and Zimbabwe Saints utility player Chipo Tsodzo among other people.

In another picture the footie star is seen posing for a picture with ex-Bosso vice chairman Modern Ngwenya and radio personality Ezra Tshisa Sibanda at Emagumeni.

Foreign and local media reports are on record saying the player could be shipped out of Aston Villa where he has fallen down the pecking order.

According to British daily newspaper the Daily Mirror, Nakamba is one of four players that had been transfer-listed by the Steven Gerrard-coached side.

Over the last few months, a number of clubs were reported to have been interested in Nakamba with Newcastle and Everton listed among the suitors.

Nakamba, who has not played a part in Villa’s campaign since the start of the 2022/2023 English Premiership season, just managed to keep his place in the squad after failing to secure a move away at the close of the latest transfer window a fortnight ago.

Club coach Steven Gerrard has reportedly indicated Villa were prepared to accept offers for the midfielder. But the Zimbabwean and fellow midfielder Morgan Sanson were challenged to force their way back into Gerrard’s thinking after it had become clear the duo had fallen out of favour with the manager.
