Mighty Warriors goalie for CAF gong

MIGHTY Warriors goalkeeper Cynthia Shonga’s stellar performances between the sticks for the national team have not gone unnoticed after she was nominated  for the CAF Goalkeeper of the Year award.

Shonga had an outstanding performance at the 2023 COSAFA Women’s Championship where she was voted Goalkeeper of the Tournament.

To win the coveted continental award, the Mighty Warriors goalie will go against nine other goalkeepers from different countries across the continent.

In Southern Africa, she will face competition from Zambia’s Catherine Musonda and the South African duo of Andile Dlamini and Kaylin Swart.

Further up into Africa, Tanzanian Najiat Abass Idrisa, two Morrocans Khadija Er-Rmichi and Imane Abdelahad are also in the running for the award.

Dolores Masongo from Equatorial Guinea, Ange Bawou of Cameroon as well as Nigerian Chiamaka Nnadokie will be hoping to make their respective countries proud at the awards ceremony.
