FORMER Hwange and FC Platinum utility player Winston Mhango has officially joined Southern Region Division One side, Adachi, B Metro Sport can reveal.
A couple of months ago, Mhango was allegedly apprehended by police in possession of mbanje, codeine, Benilyn and other illicit cough syrups, following a tip-off from members of the public
This was a development that compelled the 35-year-old player to part ways with ZPC Kariba.
The incident happened at a time the country’s Government at the highest level, including President Mnangagwa had been calling for an unrelenting fight against drug and substance abuse.
The former Zambian Super League midfielder was held at the Kariba Police Station.
Mhango has in the past weeks been keeping fit at Adachi, a club that has since signed him.
On Wednesday, he was part of the Adachi side that hammered Jordan Sinnot on a 7-0 scoreline.
“I’m happy to have found a new home.I will need to help the club achieve more,” said Mhango who featured in the greater part of the game.
Adachi is under the guidance of ex Bulawayo City and How Mine coach Philani “Beefy” Ncube.
The club’s technical team also has legendary ex Highlanders goalkeeper Peter “Oxo” Nkomo and Johannes “Tshisa” Ngodzo.
After leaving Pure Platinum Play, Mhango, a gifted midfielder who can also play as a left back, had stints at Zambia’s Kabwe Warriors and Highlanders.
After going for a lengthy period without game time, the Hwange raised combative player, was released by Bosso midway into the past season .
