GILBERT Mushangazhike, the man who replaced Highlanders strikers’ coach Joel Luphahla at Golden Eagles — the Zifa Northern Region Division One club — is now jobless.

Mushangazhike was given his marching orders after his side lost 1-2 to Chinhoyi Stars FC this past weekend.

Mushangazhike was appointed Golden Eagles head coach on 21 March 2022 as Luphahla’s replacement.

Luphahla joined Bosso as an assistant coach but assumed the role of strikers’ coach because he doesn’t have the required Caf B certificate to sit on the coaches’ bench.

Golden Eagles said Mushangazhike’s assistant, Mark Mathe will take over as interim head coach.

“Golden Eagles Football Club would like to officially announce the departure of head coach Gilbert Mushangazhike by mutual consent.

The club expresses its gratitude to coach Mushangazhike for his hard work, dedication and contribution to the team during his tenure in charge, and wishes him well in his future endeavours.

“Assistant coach Mark Mathe will take over as interim head coach and lead the team in the upcoming crucial assignments that the team will play.

“The club is confident in coach Mathe’s abilities and is committed to supporting him and the team,” announced the club.

Mushangazhike had previously coached Golden Eagles in 2019 when the team was in Division Two.
