“WHEN there is a void, you will find yourself in the presence of the Lord.”
These are the words of kwaito legend, songwriter and actor Kabelo Mabalane, who is known by his stage name Kabelo or Bouga Luv.
He was talking during a podcast on Kaya FM’s The Blind Spot on the Best T In The City. The 47-year-old said that in God’s presence there is freedom, joy and peace.
“I saw something on social media that helped me: you can’t expect the Lord to be your peace when the world is your source of satisfaction,” he said.
He said everyone gets tired and exhausted.
“If the Lord is really and truly to be your peace, earthly things can’t be the source of your satisfaction,” Kabelo said.
He said people are spiritual beings, having a physical experience. Kabelo said being a Christian is a public declaration to the world of how useless you are and that you need God.
“That’s what it is. I’m useless, I’ve failed, I’ve messed up beautiful things in my life, please help me.”
He said it’s not about being perfect.
“It’s not about me getting 10 out of 10 and doing everything right, look at me. That’s not what it’s about,” he said.
He believes the Lord’s blessing is perfect.
“We look at people who commit suicide and think, but they had everything. But it’s all material. We’ve reduced everything to material things and forget about peace and health. There are some rich people, others are so poor that all they have is money.
“We’ve seen this so many times and some people will say I’m saying this because I don’t have money,” he added. (Source: www.snl24.com)
