HOLY Mic Poetry Jam is hosting a cleanup campaign on Friday at La Vida Restaurant in Bulawayo to unite artists and keep the city clean.

The founder of the initiative Chalton Moyo said the campaign will conscientise artists on the key role that they have in keeping the city clean.

“As an initiative, we realised that it is important for us to participate in the National Cleanup campaign which is held every first Friday of the month. This campaign is also a movement to conscientise artists and arts lovers to participate in activities beyond their stage, online and written work,” he said.

Moyo indicated that the campaign will cover different areas around the La Diva Restaurant.
“We are going to cover the areas around La Vida Restaurant and we will also clean areas around the 11th and 13th Avenue in the central business district,” he said.

He stated that they have managed to partner with a number of organisations for the campaign.

“This is our second edition and we have partnered with La Vida Restaurant, Rotaract Club of Matopos, The Really Live Show and Higher Life Foundation.

“At the cleanup campaign, we will have different artists and comedians like D’Juni, Frank Chirisa and Hostess Amanda Tsuro,” he said.

Moyo highlighted that they hope to have similar campaigns in future.

“We intend to have more campaigns and our desire is to be exemplary artists and get recognition for the change that we are bringing in our communities,” he said.
