German Embassy to unveil the Buddy Bear at gallery Bulawayo

OUT of 10 cities, the German Embassy in Harare, has chosen Bulawayo to host the unveiling of the well-known Buddy Bear sculpture.
The event will take place on Friday at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe in Bulawayo at 5pm.

The German Embassy partnered with the National Gallery of Zimbabwe and Ekhaya Gaia-My Beautiful Home for the unveiling.
Apart from presenting the sculpture, the event is set to showcase and celebrate the Ndebele culture in a wider context.

Organisers of the event said to give the event a vast cultural appeal, various local artists and groups will take to the stage to provide entertainment with Nobuntu, Joy of Sound and Asante Mo among others having been lined up to perform.

Silenkosi Moyo, who is National Gallery of Zimbabwe in Bulawayo regional director, said they were feeling on top of the world to host and be part of the unveiling of the Buddy Bear.
“It also gives us a chance to encourage the local community to support the artists by subscribing to the annual membership of the Gallery,” said Moyo.
