Zimbabwe’s golf major continued this Friday as the second round of the 2024 FBC Zimbabwe Open Open wrapped up at Royal Harare Golf Club.
The round began with 144 golfers teeing off and ended with Martin Vorster leading the field while Darren Fitschard and Micheal Hollick finished in a two-way tie for second place on the leaderboard at 11-under-par. First round overnight leader, Jaco Ahlers ended the day in 5th place after shooting 8-under.
Most of the attention from the golf world is on the Vincent siblings, Scott and Kieran along with Robson Chinoi after they made the tournament cut which was +1. The trio lead a pack of nine locals who made the cut.
Kieran is the highest placed local in 6th after a second round 5-under 67. His round included seven birdies but could have been better if he had not bogeyed the 4th and the 13th.
Scott and Chinoi are eight shots off the lead and are tied for 11th after rounds of 73 and 68 respectively. This was Scott’s worst round so far at this year’s tournament after he dropped shots on the 4th, 15th (double bogey) and 17th.
Focus is also on South African pro, Neil Schietekat who won the FBC Zimbabwe Open in 2023 but has struggled on the course this time around. Schietekat finished the round 2-under in a tie for 42nd.
