Ex-lover demands money he used to buy underwear

A BULAWAYO man has been dragged to court by his ex-lover, amid revelations that he was demanding money he used to buy her underwear.

Grettly Mlotshwa who is from Umguza district on the outskirts of Bulawayo said while she was in a relationship with Zibusiso Dube, he asked her to sell him her TV set in exchange for five crates of tomatoes.  She said Dube gave her three crates before they broke up.

After the breakdown of their affair, Dube refused to pay the remaining balance of two crates of tomatoes. Instead, Dube brew a shocker, demanding the undies he bought her and the money he spent on her while they were still in love. Furthermore, he allegedly stalked her and whenever he met up with her, he would block her way and threaten to kill her. 

Mlotshwa has since applied for a protection order at Bulawayo civil court. In her affidavit, she said: “I’m applying for a protection order against my ex-lover. He begged to buy my TV set with five crates of tomatoes. I agreed. After that, he gave me three crates, when I asked for two crates, which he owed me, he fumed at me and demanded the money he used to buy me undies and bra. He stalks me and whenever he meets up with me he threatens to kill me and hurls insults at me. I’m now living in fear and praying that the court would grant me a protection order.”

The presiding magistrate, Challenge Mahembe, granted Mlotshwa a protection order. Dube was ordered not to verbally abuse or stalk his ex. He was ordered not to threaten to kill her. The order is valid for five years.
