A bitter man beats up his wife and children every time he gets drunk.
Memory Kativhu, wife to John Munhamo, on Monday appealed for a protection order against her husband at the Harare Civil Court.
Memory explained to the court how her husband beats and insults her in front of the children every time he comes home drunk.
“Ndaneta nekurohwa chikumbiro changu ndechekuti tigarisane zvakanaka pamba pedu(I am tired of being beaten up and my appeal is that we live together peacefully),” she said.
Memory further explained how John physically hurts his children and that they were now scared of their father. And even if he is not drunk they no longer have peace of mind at home.
“If only he could stop abusing my children orova hake ini chete(and beat me only),” she added.
In response, John claimed that his wife left home as she pleased without notifying him and it made him angry leading to his behaviour.
“Akamboenda kwe three months akasadzoka aidawo kuti ndidii(She once left home for three months what did she expect me to do)”, he said.
John claimed that his wife had been seeing other men and took advantage of the children.
Presiding magistrate Tafadzwa Miti concluded the case in favour of Memory, who got a protection order against her husband. He was ordered to stop causing any havoc or physical abuse to her and the children.
