THE Zifa Southern Region has moved the kick-off time for one of its weekend fixtures to avoid a counter attraction for supporters that will throng Barbourfields Stadium for an Independence Cup clash pitting Highlanders and FC Platinum on Saturday.
League administrator Augustine Ndlovu said a Division One match between new boys Talen Vision and seasoned campaigners Bulawayo Chiefs will kick off at noon instead of the traditional 3pm kick-off time.
The match will be played at the Barbourfields Ground 3 but as a result of the Independence Cup fixture featuring two top flight matches it became prudent to move the kick-off time.
Zifa announced that the Independence Cup clash between FC Platinum and Highlanders initially scheduled for Mandava had been moved to Barbourfields Stadium on Saturday.
The change in venue appears to have been made to cash in on gate takings at Barbourfields Stadium, a venue that accommodates more supporters compared to the relatively smaller Mandava Stadium.
Both teams are set to share proceeds from the gates after the semi final clash.
Last week the Zifa Southern Region League announced that the season would start without Quelaton and Trumus after both clubs failed to register with the league on time.
The withdrawal of the two teams leaves it with 16 clubs.
In other matches Highlanders 90, formerly known as Highlanders Academy travel to the mining town of Hwange for a date with Makomo hoping to pick up the first three points of the season after going down 1-3 to Amagagasi at Barbourfields last Sunday.
Army side Indlovu Iyanyathela travel to face Victoria Falls Tigers while police officers Black Boots host Casmyn at Fairbridge in Bulawayo.
