THE final round of All Africa Golf Team Championships teed off this morning at Bulawayo Golf Club with Bulawayo City Council Mayor, David Coltart in attendance.
An avid lover of all sport, Coltart was present as the Zimbabwe contingent of captain Micheal Wallace, Keegan Shutt, Vincent Chadambazina and Kelvin Muchenje teed off and is the guest of honour at the tournament’s closing ceremony later today.
ZGA president, Martin Chikwanha welcomed Coltart before introducing him to some of the players before teeing off as well as administrators from the R&A (world governing body of golf outside the Americas) and the Zimbabwe Golf Association (ZGA).
Zimbabwe teed into the final round of the tournament in third place with a gross score of 12-over-par-660 and are one shot behind second placed Zambia on 11-over-par-559.
South Africa are comfortably sitting on the top of the leaderboard with a commanding score of 16-under-par-632.
In fourth place there is Mauritius on 17-over-par-665 followed by Egypt and Uganda on identical scores of 20-over-668.
Kenya sit in position seven with a score of 32-over-par-680 and are five strokes ahead of eight placed Malawi on 37-over-par-685.
In position nine there is Eswatini with a score of 61-over-par-709 with Gabon sitting in position 10 on 64-over-par-712.
Botswana anchor the standings on 70-over-par-718.
Zimbabwe’s Muchenje was the first of the tee among the locals today at 09.22am followed by Chidambazina at 09.32 and Shutt at 09.42.
Captain Wallace teed off in the last group at 09.52am.
