Matabeleland North District Sports and Recreation Officer Jenamiso Ncube was speaking on the sidelines of a six-day Zifa Futsal Southern Region Level One Five-A-side coaches, referees and administrators course that concluded last Saturday in the coal mining town of Hwange.

a?I would like to challenge the participants who took part in this course to seek more knowledge on Five-A-side.

Seeing that a number of people who took part in this course are school teachers, we see the need to introduce Five-A-Side in the schoolsa calendar. In that regard, following the proper channels, we will approach our counterparts in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education. Iam sure itas not going to be a problem. There is also a need to introduce the sport in rural communities,a? said Ncube.

The school teachers that took part in the courseA are Breget Ndlovu (Hwange High), Privilege Sibanda (Nechilibi High), Senzokuhle Ndlovu, Jesca Katsangadzi,A (Chilisa High), Walter Tarambahama (Dampa Seconday), Zenzo Ncube (Lwendulu Primary) and Paiton Ndlovu (Mosi Oa Tunya High).

Ncubeas sentiments were echoed by Southern Region Five-A-side League chairman Philani Banda who graced the course alongside his deputy Chance Moyo and programmes and fixtures secretary Wiston Banda.

Under the tutelage of renowned Hwange FC great Weekly Mwale, the course saw the participants being taken through the history of Futsal, sports medicine, 17 laws of the game, administration, coaching tactics, goalkeeping, individual technique, tactical play and the physical aspect of the game.

a?I must say the response from the participants was good. It being a new sport in Matabeleland North, as a province we are looking forward to greatly contribute in the growth and development of Five-A-Side,a? said Mwale.
