Birthdays are meant to be celebrated by creating memories that last forever, especially with loved ones and one’s life companions at a place where a majority of the guests will enjoy and cherish the moment.

As such, Bulawayo nightlife king Phathisani Nkomo who is proprietor of a number of luxurious clubs in the city including Zarah Lounge and Cubana, is set to celebrate his birthday in style as he re-opens Cosmopolitan VIP Lounge tonight (6 September), a place which is the heartbeat of the city’s nightclub lifestyle. Nkomo was born on 7 September.

If pictures on social media are anything to go by, one can say that elegance defines the ambiance of the refurbished joint as the new finishes promise to offer top-notch service to patrons who desire a stylish hangout in a city that is famed for its multicultural complex.

At the grand opening, artistes and DJs who will provide entertainment are Witchdokta, Victor and Sancia, Ras Obido, Keezy AM as well as DJ Teflon.

Former Manager Manu Mahaso is also in the mix as he returns at Cosmo with his main task being to ensure that nightlife enthusiasts get used to the new look of the club which will offer standard and VIP services.

Shades of green, black and navy blue are now the colours that identify Cosmopolitan. Previously, the joint used to host patrons in the evening only, however, the new Cosmopolitan now has a different clientele model altogether.

A restaurant, spit braai and shisanyama have been added on the list of the services Cosmopolitan already offered. The club prides itself on its motto, “Because You’re Worth It”.

Sky who is the marketing consultant for Cosmopolitan said the rebranding was to fulfil the promise of maintaining the premium status of the nightclub.

“With the nightclub industry, you get to a period of three to five years and after that, you always have to refresh and give the place a new extra touch because clients will get tired of seeing the same thing. Remember you want to entertain not to bore people. So, Cosmo had reached that stage and it was time for it to be renovated and freshen up its promise of being a premium club,” said Sky.

She said in coming up with the new concept, they aimed at making Cosmopolitan the club of choice.

“We pushed ourselves to the limit and afforded to give Cosmo a face of any mighty club you can find in the world, it’s not just a Bulawayo club, it’s a Cosmopolitan that can compete with giant competitors from all over the world.

“As we now have a new identity, we added a restaurant with professional chefs and a shisanyama on top of our services. This will allow patrons who prefer to enjoy their time in the afternoons to experience such kinds of services with their loved ones,” said Sky.
