A TOTAL of 48 clubs that are affiliated to the Bulawayo Pool Association (BPA) are going to take part in this yeara��s edition of the BPA Cup knockout contest that is set to begin in the first week of July.
BPA publicity secretary FaraiA� Nyandoro said while theA� draw date would be announced soon, the first round of the competition would see 12 venues being used.
a�?BPA Cup Competition will start during the mid-season break and coincidentally this would be during the player transfer period.
A player will be restricted to the team that he or she is registered to until the closure of the transfer window. In the competition, there will be six rounds to get the eventual winner.
The first round will comprise 48 teams that will use 12 venues. That means we will have four teams per venue.
a�?Twenty-four winners will proceed to the next round and these will be joined by eight best losers to make them 32. In the event that there are more than eight best losers tied on the same score line a luck draw of the eight teams will be conducted on the best losers,a�? said Nyandoro.
The second round will comprise 32 teams that will do action at eight separate divided into venues thus four teams per venue and 16 winners willA� proceed to the next round.
a�?The third round will be played at four different venues before the last eight teams do battle at two different venues.
The final four teams will fight it out for the top honours at the final venue which is yet to be announced.
The hosting fees for a venue is pegged at $15 for each round of the competition and this will be awarded on a first come first serve basis,a�? added Nyandoro.
Each team will pay $5 at every round of the race as they proceed. Winners of the contest will get $220, a floating trophy plus 20 gold medals.
The tournamenta��s first runners up will go home with $160 plus 20 silver medals. The second runners up will get prize money of $140 and 20 bronze medals. The team on position four will get $125.
