HIGHLANDERS
Football Club climb to the apex of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League table after they played a goalless draw against their nemesis Dynamos at Barbourfields Stadium Thursday.

The result from the rescheduled pulsating tie took Bosso’s point tally to 18, one ahead of second placed Ngezi Platinum Stars.

DeMbare are now tied on 15 points with FC Platinum, Chicken Inn and Bulawayo Chiefs.

The exciting Bosso versus DeMbare tie which was beamed live on Zimpapers Television Network (ZTN), was played before a capacity crowd, had all the thrills of Battle of Zimbabwe that saw both clubs play an entertaining passing brand of football.

Bosso gaffer Blatermar Brito reckoned it was a valuable point gained for them.

“Yes we dropped two points but I think we gained a valuable point in an exciting game. My boys played so well we created chances which we unfortunately could not convert. We are happy to be on top of the log,” said Brito.

His opposite number Hebert “Jampano” also underscored that the draw against the black and white army was the fairest result.

“What a game it was. So exciting between Zimbabwe’s big clubs. The draw was fair. It is good that we are not conceding but the goals will come,” said Maruwa.

It was a match in which Bosso handed starting places to young enterprising duo of Calvin Chigonero and Elshamar Farasi relegating the veterans Stanley Ngala and Lynoth Chikuhwa to the bench.

Bosso’s goalminder Ariel Sibanda was the busiest of the two goalkeepers with DeMbare’s Taimon Mvula having the crossbar to thank when substitute Washington Navaya’s flashing header from a Peter Muduhwa fine delivery, hit the crossbar in the 86th minute.

Earlier on Sibanda had summoned all his goalkeeping skills to save an Emmanuel Paga thunderbolt.
This was the second time for the two clubs to meet this year after an Independence Cup final tie that ended in favour of the Bulawayo football giants.

Meanwhile, in Castle Lager Premier Soccer League week 11 fixtures Bulawayo Chiefs will on Saturday welcome Cranborne Bullets at Luveve Stadium while Black Rhinos fight it out against defending champions FC Platinum at National Sports Stadium.
