A TOTAL 13 goals were scored in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Week 10 fixtures, a development that took the season’s goal tally to 162 goals ahead of Matchday 11 matches scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
The 162 goals have reportedly come from 112 different players, including the three own goals.
The past weekend saw former Highlanders bustling forward Cleopas Dube who now does duty for Chegutu Pirates, Simba Bhora’s Perfect Chikwende, Rainsome Pavari (FC Platinum) and Bikita Minerals’ Blessing Sahondo score for the first time.
Simba Bhora’s Tymon Machope and Manica Diamonds’ Michael Tapera moved to four goals, one behind joint log leaders Lynoth Chikuhwa and Never Rauzhi of Bosso and Bulawayo Chiefs respectively.
It was a weekend that produced two goalless draws (Arenel Movers 0-0 Highlanders, Chicken Inn 0-0 Dynamos) and it was for the first time that Bosso did not managed to find the back of the net this season.
A single goal scoring score (Bikita Minerals 1-1 Tel One) was witnessed and CAPS United were the biggest scorers in the last weekend fixtures schedule after they compounded Hwange woes on a 3-0 score line.
It was a match that saw William Manondo grab a brace before Hastings Chapusha chipped in with the third goal.
Manondo’s brace took him to 85 goals to be the PSL’s all-time leading goalscorer among players who are active and registered with the League this season.
Manondo moved to three goals together with Ngezi Platinum’s Takunda Bhenhura.
Chaphusha, Godfrey Mukambi (Herentals), Fortune Bhinzi (Manica Diamonds) moved to two goals.
Three 1-0 identical triumphs were posted by Ngezi Platinum Stars, Herentals and former champions FC Platinum when they accounted for Bulawayo Chiefs, Yadah Stars and Greenfuel respectively.
A single goal scoring draw result (Bikita Minerals 1-1 Tel One) was witnessed, and eight home goals were scored by Chegutu Pirates, CAPS United, FC Platinum, Ngezi Platinum Stars, FC Platinum, Herentals, and Bikita Minerals.
Five away goals were scored by Simba Bhora, Manica Diamonds and TelOne.
Simba Bhora and Manica Diamonds were the two clubs that managed to get away victories when they beat Chegutu Pirates and ZPC Kariba.
Jairos Tapera’s Manica Diamond charges have registered six wins on the bounce and on Sunday they will play host to Bikita Minerals at Sakubva Stadium while Highlanders entertain Norman Mapeza’s FC Platinum at Barbourfields Stadium.
Dynamos have a home tie against city neighbours Herentals College at Rufaro Stadium.
Hwange will hope to get it right when they welcome Arenel Movers at Coliery Stadium.
Gweru’s Bata Stadium will be the venue for the game between TelOne and Chegutu Pirates.
Bulawayo Chiefs and Chicken Inn will square it off in a potentially exciting City of Kings and Queens derby that will be played at Luveve Stadium.
Yadah Stars will miss the services of suspended Khama Billiat when they lock horns with CAPS United.
Simba Bhora will fight it out against Ngezi Platinum Stars at Wadzanayi Stadium.
